Since the first World Road Congress held in Paris in 1908, a World Road Congress has been organized every four years in a member country in order to promote the worldwide exchange of information about new techniques and experiences in the field of road infrastructures and transport.
As a complement to the World Road Congress, an international PIARC congress dedicated to winter road maintenance has been organized every four years since 1969.
