The main objective of the World Road Association (PIARC) is to promote the international cooperation and development in the matter of roads and road transport.
Similarly to other countries, the activities of PIARC in Switzerland are lead by a country’s own organization: the National Committee Switzerland.
The National Committee Switzerland was founded in 1997 with the support of the Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication. The National committee is a platform for the integrated road system, promoting dialogue and transfers of know-how with professional associations and interested circles in Switzerland and abroad.
