PIARC WORLD ROAD ASSOCIATION

Founded in 1909, the PIARC World Road Association is the oldest road and transport association in the world. Today, 128 governments around the world are members of the Association. Additionally, national committees currently exist in 51 countries. PIARC retains consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

The PIARC World Road Association serves its members by:

  • being a leading international forum for analysis and discussion of the full range of road and road-related transport issues,
  • identifying, developing and disseminating best practice and providing better access to international information,
  • developing and promoting effective tools for decision-making on road and road transport issues.

The PIARC World Road Association achieves these objectives by:

  • establishing and coordinating Technical Committees,
  • organising a World Road Congress (every four years), a World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress (also every four years), as well as various technical seminars,
  • publishing a large number of documents, including the quarterly magazine Routes/Roads.
